Security shutters (LPCB-rated)
Security-rated shutters add 25–60% to the equivalent standard roller shutter price, depending on rating:
- SR1 (basic security) — typically £200–£500 above standard
- SR2 (most commercial insurance) — typically £500–£900 above standard

Fire-rated shutters
Fire-rated shutters are priced by rating and size:
- FD60 (60-minute fire resistance) — £2,500–£5,500 for a typical opening
- FD120 (120-minute fire resistance) — £4,000–£9,000 for a typical opening
- Daily-use fire shutters — add 40–60% to emergency-only spec
Insulated shutters
Insulated lath adds £15–£30 per square metre to the curtain cost, plus heavier-duty motor on larger openings. A typical 4m × 4m industrial insulated shutter runs £4,500–£8,500 supplied and fitted.
What affects shutter pricing
- Size: the single biggest factor. Larger openings need heavier-gauge lath, stronger motors and structural fixing.
- Material: aluminium standard; galvanised steel for security; stainless for marine environments.
- Motor: tubular motors are cheaper but limited to ~3m wide; side-mounted motors handle industrial sizes.
- Finish: mill aluminium cheapest; powder-coat (any RAL) adds £100–£300; anodised more.
- Controls: key switch standard; remote control, smartphone integration, timer scheduling all add cost.
- Access: ground-floor straightforward install; first-floor or restricted access adds labour.
- Removal of old shutter: typically £150–£400 depending on disposal.
